Jeff Bailey: Artist Statement

American towns, big and small, along the banks of the Delaware and Schuylkill rivers in southeastern Pennsylvania are the subject of my work. There is something oddly compelling about these ordinary scenes. While often mundane, these scenes suggest to me our staggering human inventiveness. Depicted are the artifacts of an invented world whose sheer improbability will, on occasion, stop me in my tracks. Those occasional, surprising moments of perception are what I try to convey.
